The last Pyrenean ibex, a female named Celia, is found dead. She was killed by a fallen tree. Efforts to save the Pyrenean ibex began in the 1980s, when biologists captured a small group of the animals for a breeding program. The breeding program was successful, and by the mid-1990s, the population had grown to about 100 individuals. However, in 1999, the last male Pyrenean ibex was found dead, leaving only Celia as the last remaining member of her subspecies.Celia's death also highlighted the importance of conservation efforts and the need for increased awareness and action to protect vulnerable species and their habitats.
