It is reported that Britain's trade deficit with countries outside the European Union has widened to a seasonally adjusted 2.3 billion pounds ($3.77 billion or 3.76 billion euros) in December. This is the highest trade deficit on record and is driven by a sharp decline in the value of exports for the month.
