The U.S. President is reviewing the Congress' proposal to move the U.S. embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in a controversial move aimed at deterring the Palestinian leader, Mr. Yasser Arafat, from declaring a Palestinian state. In an Israeli television interview, the President stated that he had always wished to relocate the embassy to Jerusalem but did not want to jeopardize the peace process or the U.S.'s ability to act as an impartial mediator, which requires that it be acknowledged by both sides.
