Ford Motor Co. and Qualcomm Inc. are confirm the start of their joint venture called Wingcast, to deliver wireless services, including internet access and safety services, to the No. 2 automaker's vehicles, beginning late next year. Jac Nasser, Ford's president and chief executive, states that "Wingcast is Ford's vehicle for redefining the future of mobile communications." He also adds that they are transforming the automobile into the next mobile portal and creating a new company that will develop and deliver a collection of leading-edge technologies and services.
