India a new power house in software exports. In the fiscal year of 1999-2000, India's software exports generated revenues of Rs. 17,150 crores ($4 billion), exceeding the target of Rs. 16,700 crores ($3.9 billion) and experiencing a 57% growth in terms of Indian rupees compared to the previous year.
