During a visit to Toyota Motor Corp.'s engine-manufacturing facilities to mark the official completion of the plant, the company's President Fujio Cho expressed his desire for Toyota to become the world's foremost leader in green-vehicle technology. On Monday, Mr. Cho revealed that Toyota was planning to develop a gasoline-electric hybrid sport-utility vehicle and expand this emerging technology into "many other vehicle types" as part of the company's efforts to promote the use of gasoline-electric powertrains.
