KeySpan Corp. has announced that it has successfully acquired Eastern Enterprises and EnergyNorth Inc. for $1.96 billion in cash and equity, as well as taking on $550 million in debt. The acquisition process had been ongoing since November of the previous year, when KeySpan made its initial offer to acquire Eastern, a company based in Weston, Massachusetts. At that time, Eastern was already in the process of acquiring EnergyNorth, which is headquartered in Manchester, New Hampshire.
