In a first, McAfee.com Corp., a manufacturer of antivirus software for computers, announced that it has identified the first virus to target wireless handheld devices. The virus, known as "Phange," is specifically designed to infect handheld computers operating on the Palm operating system, which is used by approximately 79% of such devices worldwide. Upon infecting a device, the virus overwrites the initial section in the host .PRC file, affecting all third-party applications installed on the handheld computer.
