Initial projections indicate that French citizens have overwhelmingly voted in favor of a referendum to reduce the presidential term to five years. However, the low voter turnout is expected to limit any significant political benefits for the country's leaders resulting from the change, which was aimed at modernizing French politics. According to the Sofres polling agency, the constitutional amendment was supported by 73.5% of voters, with 26.5% voting against it. A survey conducted by Ipsos polling organization yielded similar results. Unfortunately, voter abstention reached a record high of 68.7%, as reported by the Interior Ministry.
