In an effort to prevent the export-tax subsidy dispute from escalating into a trade war, the European Union has agreed to delay any retaliatory sanctions against the United States until after next month's election. The two parties, who have been engaged in a series of trade conflicts over the past two years, came to an agreement in Brussels on Saturday to reduce tensions surrounding the issue. Although the agreement does not completely resolve the dispute, it does postpone the contentious issue of retaliatory sanctions for a few weeks.
