Irom Chanu Sharmila, an Indian civil rights activist from Manipur, ends her 16-year hunger strike against the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act. Known as the "Iron Lady of Manipur," Sharmila's hunger strike aimed to abolish the act granting Indian armed forces extensive powers. Her courageous act and determination have made her the world's longest hunger striker and a symbol of resistance against human rights violations.
