Greenland sharks claim the title of the longest-living vertebrates on Earth, with scientists estimating the age of one female shark to be around 400 years. Using radiocarbon dating, researchers discovered that these sharks grow at a rate of only 1cm per year and reach sexual maturity at approximately 150 years. This finding highlights the extraordinary longevity of these mysterious creatures.
