Gemalto NV agrees to acquire 3M Co.'s identity-management business for $850 million. The business, including 3M Cogent, focuses on biometric systems and secure document issuance. The sale is expected to be completed in the first half of 2017, with approximately 450 employees transferring to Gemalto.
