TransCanada announces its agreement to acquire Columbia Pipeline Group for $13 billion. This acquisition allows TransCanada to expand its operations by obtaining a network of approximately 24,000 kilometers of natural gas pipelines extending from New York to the Gulf of Mexico. Columbia Pipeline Group, based in Houston, Texas, has a significant presence in the Appalachia production basin, complementing TransCanada's growth strategy in the energy industry.
