Belgium experiences its first case of euthanasia for a terminally ill minor since the removal of age restrictions in 2014. A 17-year-old, suffering from unbearable physical pain, becomes the first minor to be granted euthanasia in Belgium. The country is unique in allowing minors of any age with rational decision-making capacity and in the final stages of a terminal illness to choose euthanasia, with parental consent required for those under 18.
