Informa PLC, a specialist publisher and events company, acquires Penton Information Services for $1.56 billion. The move expands Informa's presence in the United States and contributes to consolidation within the global exhibitions industry. Informa will pay private-equity firms MidOcean Partners and Wasserstein & Co. $1.46 billion in cash and $100 million in shares for Penton.
