MGM Holdings acquires full ownership of pay-television network Epix in a deal exceeding $1.03 billion. MGM's move to expand its television business leads to the buyout of partners Viacom and Lions Gate Entertainment's combined stake. Under the agreement, Viacom's Paramount Pictures and Lions Gate will continue providing first-run theatrical releases to Epix, possibly extending their existing agreements beyond 2019.
