Peggy Whitson, commander of the International Space Station (ISS), sets a new record for the most total days spent in space by any NASA astronaut, surpassing 534 days. With over 665 days in space, Whitson holds the record for the most cumulative time in space by an American and any woman. She has played significant roles in various space missions, including commanding the ISS and serving as NASA's Chief Astronaut.
