A massive iceberg, covering approximately 6,000 square kilometers, breaks away from Antarctica's Larsen C Ice Shelf. Considered one of the largest icebergs ever recorded, it is estimated to be about a quarter the size of Wales. The iceberg's separation had been anticipated due to a significant crack that had been monitored for over a decade. While the iceberg's movement will be slow in the short term, it will require monitoring as it could pose a hazard to shipping if it drifts into certain areas.
