A UK court rejects a £14 billion class-action lawsuit against Mastercard, which accused the company of overcharging more than 45 million people in Britain over a 16-year period. The competition appeal tribunal ruled that the case would not proceed to trial, thus denying the necessary collective proceedings order. This decision prevents what could have been the largest and most complex class-action case in British legal history, testing the limits of the Consumer Rights Act.
