The global WannaCry ransomware attack takes place, targeting computers running Microsoft Windows. The attack encrypts data and demands ransom payments in Bitcoin. The worm used the EternalBlue exploit, developed by the U.S. National Security Agency, and was spread through organizations that had not applied necessary patches or were using outdated Windows systems.
