The United States Department of Homeland Security announces that they will not extend the "temporary protected status" of approximately 50,000 Haitians residing in the US, expiring in 18 months. Haitians will have to leave the country or face deportation, as the US government determines that conditions in Haiti have improved since the earthquake in 2010.
