Astronomers have discovered a ring of particles around Haumea, a dwarf planet shaped like a squashed egg at the edge of our Solar System. Haumea, one of five recognized dwarf planets, is the only one with its own ring. This follows a 2014 finding of two rings around Chariklo, a minor planet between Jupiter and Neptune, surprising the astronomy community previously only aware of rings around gas giants.
