The magnetic north pole is shifting towards Siberia at an accelerated rate, prompting an early update of the World Magnetic Model. The movement, at 55 kilometers (34 miles) per year, necessitates an out-of-cycle update to ensure safe navigation around the North Pole. The new model will benefit military applications, commercial airlines, search and rescue operations, and others operating in the region.
