The World Trade Organization (WTO) announces that its dispute-settlement panels have ruled that the United States violated international trade rules with its tariffs on imported steel and aluminum. The tariffs, imposed by former President Donald Trump in 2018 on national-security grounds, were found to be in violation of WTO agreements. The panels state that the tariffs were not justified under national-security exceptions as argued by the U.S.
