Johnson & Johnson has reportedly stopped production of its single-dose COVID-19 vaccine, leaving developing nations reliant on the vaccine without a steady supply. The company closed its manufacturing plant in the Netherlands, where the vaccine was produced, to focus on a different drug. Although J&J expects to resume vaccine production, the timeline remains uncertain. The company stated that it has millions of vaccine doses in inventory and is fulfilling its contractual obligations to the African Union.
