Scientists led by Dr. Nicole Schanche of the University of Bern's Center for Space and Habitability have discovered an exoplanet called TOI-2257 b orbiting a red dwarf star. The planet was initially identified using NASA's TESS space telescope and further confirmed by observations from the SAINT-EX telescope. With an orbital period of 35 days, TOI-2257 b is located in the star's habitable zone, where liquid water and potentially life-sustaining conditions could exist. However, the planet's irregular orbit and high atmospheric pressure make it less favorable for habitability. Further observations with the James Webb Space Telescope are planned to study its atmosphere.
