Indonesia's new capital in eastern Kalimantan will be named Nusantara, according to National Development Planning Minister Suharso Monoarfa. The name was confirmed by the president and chosen for its international recognition and simplicity. Some attendees expressed concerns about potential confusion with the term Nusantara, suggesting the addition of "special administration" to the name. The decision on whether the new capital will be a province or a city is yet to be finalized. The project, initially planned for 2020, was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
