The African Union has announced the suspension of Burkina Faso until constitutional order is restored in the country. This action comes after mutinous soldiers staged a coup, removing democratically elected President Roch Marc Christian Kabore. The suspension follows the earlier decision by the West African group ECOWAS to suspend Burkina Faso. The suspensions entail exclusion from meetings and decision-making processes. Burkina Faso is the third nation within the regional bloc to face such consequences due to military takeovers.
