Australia will reopen its borders to international tourists on February 21, after nearly two years of closure. However, Western Australia will remain closed to the rest of the country. This move aims to revive the hospitality sector, which has suffered due to Covid-related restrictions. Prior to the pandemic, the tourism industry contributed A$120 billion in annual revenue and employed 5% of the workforce. Australia had initially halted entry for foreign tourists but has gradually reopened to citizens, residents, skilled migrants, international students, and some seasonal workers.
