BYD, short for Build Your Dreams, has overtaken Tesla as the leading electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer globally in terms of sales during the first half of 2022. Headquartered in Shenzhen City, located in Guangdong Province in southern China, BYD has sold approximately 641,000 vehicles, experiencing a remarkable year-on-year growth of over 300 percent. In comparison, Tesla sold around 564,000 vehicles during the same period, as stated in their respective company filings.
