Wild European bison make a remarkable comeback to the United Kingdom after more than one thousand years. Three of the four bison are released into a picturesque pine forest in Kent, England, specifically West Blean and Thornden Woods near Canterbury, on July 18, 2022. This reintroduction project aims to restore the natural biodiversity of the area. Prior to their reintroduction in Europe during the 1950s, the last European bison perished in Poland in 1919. European bison, the continent's largest wild land animals, exhibit impressive speed, capable of running up to 40 miles per hour, surpassing human swiftness. While they bear a resemblance to their North American counterparts, European bison have a more slender physique, curved horns, and a less shaggy appearance.
