NATO allies, Canada and Denmark, resolve their long-standing dispute over Hans Island through diplomacy. A joint working group established in 2018 reaches an agreement to divide the 1.2-square-kilometer island into two equal parts, along a natural cleft. The deal, pending parliamentary approval, establishes the world's longest maritime border of 3,882km between the two countries, spanning from the Lincoln Sea to the Labrador Sea. This resolution marks a significant milestone in diplomatic relations and promotes stability in the high north region.
