The Bundestag votes with an overwhelming majority of 400–41, along with 200 abstentions, in favor of raising the minimum wage in Germany to €12 ($12.90) per hour. This decision is expected to benefit around 6.2 million workers in the country. Inflation concerns in Germany have prompted this wage hike. Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who prioritized increasing the minimum wage during his election campaign, sees his proposal come to fruition as lawmakers approve the bill. The raise will provide an extra €400 per month for individuals with a monthly income of €1,700.
