The Australian parliament has ratified a free trade agreement with India. The bills were passed in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, making the agreement law. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced the successful passage of the agreement through parliament. The agreement aims to secure Australia's position in India's fast-growing economy and provide opportunities for Australian businesses to expand in a market of nearly 1.5 billion consumers. The agreement is expected to boost bilateral trade to $45-50 billion in the next five years.
