President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo has been re-elected for a seven-year term in Equatorial Guinea's general election held on 20 November 2022. The government announced on 26 November that Obiang had won with 97% of the vote on a turnout of 98%. However, the elections were widely criticized as a sham, and the overwhelming margin of victory was expected given Obiang's long-standing rule as the world's longest-serving president.
