Germany has signed a 15-year deal with QatarEnergy, Qatar's state-owned petroleum company, to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) starting from 2026. The agreement aims to replace the Russian gas supplies that have been disrupted due to the conflict in Ukraine. The deal involves Qatar Energy and ConocoPhillips, with Qatar sending up to 2 million tons of LNG to Germany through a new terminal in Brunsbuettel. The reduction in Russian gas supplies has led to an energy crisis in Europe, causing inflation and price increases.
