Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva narrowly secures victory in Brazil's presidential election, winning 50.9% of the vote in the second-round run-off against incumbent Jair Bolsonaro. Lula, a member of the Workers' Party, is the current president of Brazil, serving his second term. Rising from a working-class background, Lula began as a metalworker and trade unionist. He played a key role in workers' strikes during the military dictatorship and co-founded the Workers' Party.
