Algeria has officially applied to join the BRICS economic group, which includes Russia, Brazil, India, China, and South Africa. The North African country has completed all necessary measures for membership, according to a Foreign Ministry official. In July, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboun expressed interest in joining the group, stating that it would move Algeria away from the influence of the two poles. The BRICS economies represent a significant portion of the global GDP, with over 40% of the world's population.
