Russia rejoins the Black Sea Grain Initiative following mediation by Turkey. Ukraine provides written assurances that the grain corridor in the Black Sea will be used exclusively for civilian and humanitarian purposes. The initiative, established during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, aims to facilitate safe transportation of grain and foodstuffs from Ukrainian ports. A joint coordination and inspection center, with the UN's involvement, helps ensure compliance. The agreement is extended for an additional 120 days.
