Indian aviation and Indian flyers face the worst crisis as IndiGo faces the worst scheduling crisis in Indian aviation after failing to adjust to new crew Flight Duty Time Limitations. Thousands of flights are cancelled nationwide, peaking at about 1,600 on 5 December. To stabilise operations, the DGCA grants IndiGo a temporary exemption from key FDTL rules, including night-duty limits and Leave-For-Rest norms, valid until 10 February. Pilot unions condemn the exemption, warning it compromises flight safety.
