Benin faces an attempted coup as forces led by Pascal Tigri seize state television and declare a military junta, the Military Committee for Refoundation. The plot fails after Nigeria launches precision airstrikes in Cotonou, killing several putschists. ECOWAS deploys ground troops from Ghana, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone to support President Patrice Talon. France also provides intelligence, surveillance aircraft, and logistical assistance to Benin and shares intelligence with Nigeria.
