Mercosur and EFTA (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland) finalize a major free trade agreement, announced during a summit in Buenos Aires. Swiss Vice President Guy Parmelin calls it a fair, balanced milestone, granting Mercosur access to EFTA’s high-income markets. Covering goods, services, investment, and sustainability, the deal benefits 97% of exports. Parliamentary approval is pending, with implementation likely by mid-2026, boosting trade and investment, especially in Brazil and Argentina.
