Ryland Headley, 92, has been sentenced to life in prison for the 1967 rape and murder of 75-year-old Louisa Dunne in Bristol, in what is believed to be the UK’s oldest solved cold case. Justice Derek Sweeting condemned the crime as “pitiless and cruel.” Headley left a palm print at the scene, but was only linked decades later when a 2023 case review matched his DNA to semen found on Dunne’s skirt. He was arrested in November 2024.
