Microsoft has officially ended support for Windows 10, affecting nearly 41% of PC users still running the older system. However, users can stay protected through Microsoft’s Extended Security Updates (ESU) program, which offers one additional year of free security updates until October 13, 2026. The ESU plan serves as a temporary bridge for those unable to upgrade to Windows 11. Enrollment costs $30, but is free in Europe or via Windows Backup with OneDrive sync or 1,000 Microsoft Rewards points worldwide.
