China has announced it will no longer claim Special and Differential Treatment (SDT) in future World Trade Organization negotiations, a status long criticized by the U.S. and Europe. The Commerce Ministry said the move aims to strengthen the global trading system amid rising tariffs and protectionism. Existing agreements remain unaffected. WTO chief Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala welcomed the step, calling it a key reform that removes a major point of contention over privileges for wealthier nations.
