Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov signs the Law “On Burial and Funeral Services” after its adoption by the Jogorku Kenesh on June 25, 2026. The law reforms funeral-service regulation by separating ritual activities from sanitary and technical handling of biological materials. It removes provisions allowing cremation, fire burial, and burial or reburial of urns containing ashes. It also bans crematorium use for deceased bodies and fetal remains, except for sanitary thermal destruction of organs and tissues from medical procedures. The law takes effect ten days after official publication.
