A magnitude 7.7 earthquake strikes eastern Indonesia’s Flores Island, killing at least 68 people, injuring over 200, and displacing thousands across East Nusa Tenggara. The shallow quake destroys or severely damages hundreds of homes, health facilities, schools, and churches, while landslides block the Trans-Flores Highway and slow rescue operations. Authorities deploy military, police, helicopters, and rescue vessels, but aid delivery remains difficult. Hospitals operate from outdoor tents, power outages disrupt fuel stations, and repeated aftershocks keep traumatised residents in makeshift camps.
