Catastrophic Himalayan flash floods kill at least 472 people across Nepal and Tibet after a glacier collapse triggers an ice-rock avalanche into the Lhende River valley. A debris dam bursts, sending a 9-metre wave of water and mud through the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli corridors. Nepal reports hundreds dead and over 910 missing, while Tibet reports more than 550 missing. Towns in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading suffer severe damage, the Gyirong border crossing is buried, the Friendship Bridge is swept away, and hydropower sites are badly hit.
