Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, son of former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, is killed in a nighttime attack in Zintan, southwest of Tripoli. Four assailants shoot him at his residence after disabling security cameras and flee. Libyan state media confirms the death. Long viewed as a potential successor, Saif al-Islam had announced a presidential bid in 2021 before elections are postponed.
